About the Role
Working in the Assessment Operations Centre in Tuition, Assessment, Curriculum and Quality, you will deliver comprehensive administrative support across a range of assessment and results processing activities, in accordance with agreed schedules and service standards.
Working as part of a team, your responsibilities will include processing Special Circumstances submissions, supporting the co-ordination of result determination meetings, administering results, and providing consistent administrative and operational support throughout the result determination cycle.
The Assistant serves as a first point of contact for colleagues and stakeholders, offering accurate and timely information on result determination processes and related activities as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of processes and operations that support result determination activities.
- Maintain records, document management, and providing a quality service to customers.
- Respond to telephone and email queries from staff and students on a range of matters, including responding to module result enquiries or checks.
- Maintain a good knowledge of relevant OU policy and procedures.
- Act as deputy to the Co-ordinator as required to support peak activities.
- Contribute to building a flexible culture within the sub-unit.
- Use systems and processes effectively to support the delivery of services to internal and external customers.
About You
-
A good standard of written and spoken English, together with numeracy skills appropriate to the role.
- Experience of working in a customer-focused environment, providing information, advice and guidance.
- Experience of working as part of a team towards a common goal.
- IT experience including using Outlook, Word, and Excel to complete everyday tasks and an ability to learn a variety of IT packages.
- Ability to undertake high volumes of routine tasks.
- Good organisational and prioritisation skills.
- An appreciation of the need for strict confidentiality, and to maintain high standards of security.
- Ability to pay attention to detail and to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to carry out the role in a way that is consistent with equality legislation and University policies.

Work location
It is anticipated that a hybrid working pattern can be adopted for this role, where you can work from home and the office. However, as this role is contractually aligned to our Milton Keynes office it is expected that some attendance in the office will be required when necessary and in response to business needs. We’d expect this to be approximately once per week.
Next steps in the Recruitment process
Interviews are anticipated to take place 27/28 August. Candidates will be invited to attend a panel interview and complete an Excel task.
