About the Role

As an Assistant, Assessment Operations provide support in the delivery of a wide range of administrative activities associated with the delivery of assessment that ensure Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA), Computer Marked Assignments (CMA), Computer Marked Examinations (CME), End of Module Assessments (EMA), Remote Exams (RE), System Parameters, Academic Conduct and associated activities are processed to agreed schedules and service levels.  You will also act as the first point of contact for OU colleagues, providing information, advice and guidance on assessment activities, as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivery of processes and operations that support assessment activities for TMA, CMA, CME, EMAs and examinations.
  • Delivery of processes and operations that support activities for maintaining assessment records, document management and a quality service to customers, both internal and external.
  • Respond to telephone and email queries from staff and students on a range of matters, including responding to module result enquiries or checks.
  • Maintain a good knowledge of relevant OU policy and procedures.
  • Act as deputy to the Co-ordinator as required to support peak activities.
  • Contribute to building a flexible culture within the sub-unit.
  • Use systems and processes effectively to support the delivery of services to internal and external customers.

About You

Essential:

  • Good general education including a high standard of written and spoken English.
  • English and Mathematics to O level/GCSE grade ‘C’ standard (or equivalent).
  • Experience of, or interest in, working in a customer focused environment, providing information, advice and guidance.
  • Experience of working as part of a team towards a common goal.
  • IT experience including using Outlook, Word, Excel to complete everyday tasks and an ability to learn a variety of IT packages.
  • Ability to undertake high volumes of routine tasks.
  • Good organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • An appreciation of the need for strict confidentiality, and to maintain high standards of security.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and to maintain accurate records. 
  • An awareness of and commitment to equal opportunities and diversity.

It is anticipated that a hybrid working pattern can be adopted for this role, where you can work from home and the office. However, as this role is contractually aligned to our Milton Keynes office it is expected that some attendance in the office will be required when necessary and in response to business needs. We’d expect this to be approximately twice a month.
